A Plea For The Turtles
“Turtles remind us that the way to heaven is through the earth. In Mother Earth is all that we need. She will care for us, protect us, and nurture us, as long as we do the same for her. For that to happen, we must slow down and heighten our sensibilities. We must see the connection to all things. Just as the turtle cannot separate itself from its shell, neither can we separate ourselves from what we do to the Earth.” Ted Andrews
Today I received an email from my lightworker friend in Bermuda. Part of her life purpose is helping creatures of the Earth. She volunteers her time and energy helping sea turtles. The sea turtles need our help. This is a call to action.
I decided today to do some research on sea turtles as I did not want to rely on memory to describe these creatures of God’s. All creatures represent an aspect of our Creator and all of them have a special purpose in the world. Turtles are fifth-dimensional water creatures. They have mastered the element of water and are able to carry out their soul missions and take the knowledge and wisdom that they have learned on Earth back to Jumbay – the ascended aspect of Jupiter from whence they originated. They have a true understanding of cosmic abundance and they spread it through the waters. (THE ARCHANGEL GUIDE TO ENLIGHTENMENT & MASTERY by Diana Cooper)
There are 250 species of turtles worldwide. Sea turtles are one of the Earth’s most ancient creatures. The species found today have been around for 110 million years – since the time of the dinosaurs. Most sea turtles undergo long migrations – some as far as 1400 miles – between their feeding grounds and the beaches where they nest. Research shows that they are on the “critically endangered” list.
Turtles symbolize longevity and immortality in mythologies around the world. They live for an extraordinary length of time. Apparently the oldest known tortoise passed away in 2006 at the age of 250 and a Galapagos tortoise, Harriet, died relatively recently at the age of 171 after befriending Darwin.
What mythology teaches – science is now confirming. Researchers have found that the internal organs of turtles do not age. This gift is unique in the animal kingdom. Some researchers feel that the “fountain of youth may very well be in the genome of the turtle.” Like the archetype of the sage – the medicine of turtle – besides longevity is one with wisdom. If you have turtle as one of your spirit animals – as my friend does – then you are reminded that you are ageless. However, turtle reminds all of us of this. Today turtle is reminding us that we are being called upon to develop our own inner sage to guide us along our path.
We all remember the story of the tortoise and the hare. Turtles embody the amazing quality of patience and their symbolism is about going slowly and one of many fascinating facts about them is that turtle does not molt her entire skin at once like a snake but rather some members of the turtle family slough off the excess skin while others deposit it in layers as extra armor. Turtle is telling us to expect our transformation to be gradual and continual rather than a ‘sudden’ awakening. That is good I feel. Slow and steady wins the day.
As we lightworkers are aware – time is an illusion. A construct of the human mind. Turtle can stop the beating of her heart – turning it on and off at will. Is that not astounding? Merlin can teach you how to warp time – but – so can turtle! We have all enjoyed the experience of one moment stretched beyond many. Turtle medicine reveals to us that sometimes obstacles are purposely put in our way to slow us down. At least one of you reading this is moving too quickly I am told. Slow down and learn to develop equanimity. Of course a message for one of us is a message for all of us. We are all ONE.
Turtle cannot crawl out of her shell so she carries her home on her back. She retreats inside when danger threatens. If turtle has meandered into your life – and she has – because you are reading this – she is asking you to think about what “home” means to you. Has your idea of “home” evolved over time? I suggest you answer this in your journal for insights that may surprise you.
About 1 out of every 1,000 baby sea turtles will make it to adulthood. They are a food source for crabs, birds, and other marine animals; however, their biggest threat by far is – you guessed it – human beings with our disregard and disrespect for Mother Earth and her creatures. One of the many problems besides the garbage and oil spills we foul the Earth with is that we leave the artificial lights on in our beach communities and this confuses the turtles who usually follow the moon and stars reflecting off the waves – and of course humans also traffic in turtle shells and turtle eggs in the black market.
My Bermuda friend said I could tell you all about her plea (and now mine) for the turtles and gave me permission to use verbatim quotes from her email which I will now do:
“The thing that came up yesterday was shocking and completely upsetting. It’s about the sea turtles here – which are on the international species list. Everyone knows that, especially people who know oceans, which sailors do.
According to the head of the local turtle research team, who has worked for decades to help the turtles, man’s ignorance (not women’s) has raised its ugly head again.
Enter the America’s Cup – to be staged in Bermuda from May 26 for about a month. It has been deemed by organizers to be the most prestigious yacht race in the world. It’s a race of billionaire ego men who each spend $100M and more on their teams. Larry Ellison, whose American team won the last AC in San Francisco, chose Bermuda as the setting for the sailing trials and races to show the world his power.
Sailing uber, high-tech America’s Cup 45-foot catamarans through a known sea turtle habitat over the past 18 months has had detrimental effects, according to my friend the turtle researcher. I don’t know how many of these rocket boats’ (worth 10M or more each) with their carbon-fiber rudders and foils have sliced them but she told me that this is likely. She can’t prove it because the teams are staying mum on the subject and dealing with the kills. But at least two rudders and one foil (worth in the hundreds of thousands of $$$) have been trashed because they smashed into turtles, she said. The boats did not hit any reefs or rocks because there aren’t any in the area.
She has given talks to each of the sailing teams – USA, Sweden, Japan, New Zealand, France, UK – instructed them on how to resuscitate injured/dead turtles, and to report incidents of turtle killings. Because of its sensitive nature, none of these teams have come forward. In spite of cameras being positioned underwater in myriad places along their hulls.
Before the racing began, the subject of racing in the turtle habitat was discussed by my friend’s environmental group who voted unanimously to move the racing area to a safer place for turtles. They informed the Bermuda Government Cabinet who agreed and said they would tell the America’s Cup to move the course.
Within two hours, the America’s Cup organizers response came back: No. The race course would remain where they wanted it and turtles be damned. The Bermuda Government was too greedy to let the entire event go elsewhere, so they caved. Because of billionaire ‘power’, the turtles lost.”
Yes, the turtles lost and simultaneously we all lost. This example of a complete lack of reverence for life is happening across the world – but – lightworkers across the world are also working hard every day in every way they can think of to save the Earth. Just like my Bermuda friend is.
What can we do? I wrote this blog – maybe some of you will share it or the message about the sea turtles. If some of you are educators you may teach and educate about our disappearing creatures and tell their stories. Some of you may adopt-a-turtle or donate to an organization that preserves sea life and the oceans. Some of you may write letters to the Bermuda Government and ask others to write as well. We may not all be able to articulate our passion as well as my caring friend – but we can each do something. Praying is always helpful. Maybe you will hold an Animal Spirit Workshop and educate people about their spirit animals. Tonight, I will talk with Sedna and Archangel Ariel.
I have written a blog about Archangel Ariel – so some of you may read that and contact her and ask for her assistance. Sedna is considered the Creator goddess of all inhabitants of the sea. Although it is preferable to contact her near or on water – she is available to give you guidance and help anywhere, anytime, when you ask. Do not ask lightly – she is powerful. I will share a little story about my Pod leader Jan (at Doreen’s Angel Therapy(R) course) and her experience with Sedna.
We ‘newbies’ to Angel Therapy(R) in 2006 were full of questions during our Pod gatherings. We gathered around Jan like guppies waiting for her attention – and she was busy at this course! One of my classmates asked Jan if it was difficult to be raising young children while simultaneously working as an Angel Therapist(R). Jan told us a story about herself. One morning when she was feeding the kids breakfast, making lunches, arranging schoolbags and the many chores a Mom of young children handles, Jan received a message that Sedna wished to communicate with her. However, Jan delayed and got the kids their food and then began making their lunches, meanwhile the message was relayed again and Jan delayed till the children were almost out the door when – suddenly – Jan’s mouth completely filled with sea water! Needless to say, when Sedna calls – answer!! Jan always does. Ask Sedna if you are ready to work with her – she is not subtle – and this is good for those of you who need a little nudge to accept your spiritual power.
Thank you to my dear friend in Bermuda for your passion – you reignited my own passion today. Thank you to the sea turtles for their messages and medicine – I bought a turtle statue today for Angel Cottage because synchronicity put one literally under my nose while I was in a shop not known for turtles! A guide said “buy it.” Turtle energy – fifth-dimensional Jumbay energy? Yes! I am all in.
Love & Light, Monica

Synchronicity–this blog was posted on our older daughter’s birthday and 20 years ago she went to Costa Rica to participate in turtle conservation. Thank you, Bermuda friend, and Monica.

Thanks for this impassioned plea for the turtles. Yet another species suffering from our careless interference. I will endeavor to learn more about the turtles, thanks again!
