“It is important to understand that Bhutan is not a sleepy country that does not want to wake to the harsh reality of new age problems. But it is a country of simple people for whom happiness is all that counts.”   Ratna Sehgal

Recently, I was listening to Fareed Zacharia’s show GPS (Global Public Square) and he and his guests were discussing one of the countries that is handling the Covid pandemic most successfully. It is Bhutan. I did some research and found out that Bhutan, known officially as the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked country in the Eastern Himalayas, bordered by China to the north and India to the south. (Wikepedia). The capital and largest city is Thimphu and the official language is Dzongkha. The Himalayan Kingdom is known for embracing Gross National Happiness. Research shows that it has continually ranked as the happiest country in all of Asia and as one of the happiest countries in the entire world! The population of Bhutan is 771, 608 people.

If you are one of my regular readers, then you know that I live in North America where too frequently the emphasis is on profit rather than people. It is exactly the reverse in Bhutan and therefore, as we might expect, the crime rate is extremely low. Because the Buddhist values encourage the population to focus on what they have, rather than what they don’t have, the people as a whole tend to be gentle, kind and friendly. They are described as peace-loving, disciplined, people who enjoy simple living and high thinking.  (Thomas Cook Blog) Their philosophy of life is saving the environment and therefore besides math and science the children are taught environmental protection and basic agricultural techniques: “Bhutanese simply believe that conservation of the environment is the way of life. Also, conservation of the environment is one of the pillars of their happiness index… In Bhutan, it is believed that teaching kids to be good people is as important as getting good grades.” (Thomas Cook)

Although the Bhutanese are on good terms with death, believing it to be part of life, they have only had one death due to Covid (a 34 year old man with pre-existing conditions) since the pandemic began!  It helps that their Prime Minister is a surgeon and much of his cabinet are doctors and health workers. Of course, that is no accident in a country where happiness matters most. Bhutan wasted no time and the King played a key role and an active role in preparedness, prevention and detection. The reaction was described as “rapid.” Strict lockdowns, stringent public health rules with health and compassion as focus, unified response, quarantines, faith in their “healthy Government” and immediate tracing resulted in a more powerful response than the United States and many, many other countries. They were able to keep the deaths to one with one ICU doctor in the country. They are unified in their focus on combating Covid.

We may not live in a country with such devotion to high values, however, we can promote them and live them ourselves. It starts with doing everything we can with the health and happiness of the collective in mind. As a lightworker we work our light whenever and wherever we are able and each day doing something for ourselves that makes us happy. Today, why not sit for awhile with your journal and write  – “I am happy when I … ” and go till you stop. Your vibration will rise along with your spirits. Are there things you could add to your day that would boost your happiness?  Choose one and do it!

I was guided today to ask the Dragons which dragon/s would be most helpful at this stage in your development to help you to increase your happiness quotient? It is “Emerald Dragon: Brings in healing and cosmic abundance. Good fortune is coming. Let your thoughts support your divine perfection. Align with your fifth dimensional blueprint.”  (Dragon Oracle deck by Diana Cooper)  The Emerald Dragons work with the top healing Angel, Archangel Raphael, the emerald angel who helps us to develop our third eye. The blessings that will fall upon you when you begin to work with the Emerald Dragons may or may not be financial, but, they are always positive for our ascension pathway. If you want some increased clairvoyance – ask these dragons to touch your third eye and to help you to pull back the veils of illusions. You, dear reader, have received this card, therefore, you are ready! Invite these magnificent dragons (they work alongside the Angels) to bring good fortune into your life and remember to say the magic words. “Thank you.”

And, thank you dear readers, for taking this little trip to Bhutan with me today. I love your company.

Namaste,   Monica
